City of Winnipeg crews will hit the streets on Sunday evening to begin their fall cleanup and leaf sweeping program.
Weather permitting, crews will work around-the-clock and target areas with the heaviest concentration of leaves. Once collected, they will be moved to the Brady Road Landfill.
Signs indicating “no parking” zones will be in place where sweeping crews are working. Vehicles parked in these locations could be ticketed and towed.
Property owners are urged not to rake yard waste material (e.g., grass clippings, leaves) or other debris onto the streets as it can plug the street drains.
The $400,000 cleanup will involve about 60 pieces of equipment.
