Brandon Cops Smash Window to Wake Impaired Driver

October 28, 2013 7:55 AM | News

Brandon Police Service CrestBrandon police had to resort to smashing the window of a vehicle to get the attention of an impaired driver over the weekend.

Police were alerted of the driver Saturday morning, who they say was seen swerving and driving the wrong way on Victoria Avenue. The Pontiac turned on to Park Street and eventually stopped between Franklin Street and Rideau Street.

Police found the vehicle behind a home in the 400 block of Princess Avenue East. The driver appeared to be unconscious with the vehicle still running. When officers couldn’t get a response from the driver, a window was smashed to gain entry.

A 36-year-old Virden man was arrested for impaired driving, with breath samples reading three times the legal limit. He was released on a promise to appear in Brandon court later this week.
