The Order of the Buffalo Hunt was awarded to two Winnipeg individuals by Premier Greg Seligner on Monday.
Jon Thordarson and James Potton were recognized for their commitment and excellence to the fields of photo journalism and graphic design, and environmental education.
“Jon Thordarson spent a lifetime chronicling the photographic history of Manitoba through his careers with the Winnipeg Tribune, the Winnipeg Sun and, for the past 20 years of his life, with the Winnipeg Free Press,” Selinger said. “Sadly, Jon passed away just days before he was to receive this honour in 2010.”
Selinger also thanked Potton for his tireless efforts in the field of environmental education for the past quarter century.
