VIDEO: Suspect Sought in Beating of Bus Driver

October 29, 2013 1:20 PM | News

Police are hoping releasing video of an assault on a Winnipeg Transit driver leads to the arrest of the suspect.

The assault occurred over the noon hour on September 14 when the bus stopped on eastbound William Avenue near Isabel Street.

The suspect boarded the bus without paying and then demanded a transfer from the driver. A confrontation began and the suspect punched and kicked the 50-year-old male driver repeatedly. He suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Two men attempted to intervene after about two to three minutes, in which one of the man was also assaulted.

Police released photos of the suspect earlier this month, but haven’t come up with any leads. He’s described as aboriginal in appearance, approximately 25-years-old with a slim build, short dark hair, and about 6’0? tall.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6668 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
