You don’t normally group getting a flu shot and attending Central Canada Comic Con into the same category, but that’s what will happen this weekend.

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is targeting the event’s all-ages demographic to make sure that even costumed villains don’t get sick this flu season.

“Comic Con reaches out to the young at heart from every age group and every demographic,” said Comic Con publicist Stephanie Meilleur. “We want everyone to enjoy the Comic Con experience and want to offer the sound logic of being vaccinated while they are here.”

Only about 10-15 percent of Canadians get their flu shot every year, making the vaccine especially important for seniors and young children.

Flu shots will be available for free to Comic Con attendees this afternoon beginning at 4 p.m. and during Saturday’s daytime activities.
