It’s a historic day for the U of M Bisons football team, as they compete in the first ever playoff game at Investors Group Field.
The ninth-ranked Bisons host the No. 10 Saskatchewan Huskies in the Canada West semi-final playoff bout at 7 p.m. CT. It will be the third time this season the two rival prairie teams have met. Both teams hold a 1-1 record against each other after the Bisons won 33-26 at Saskatchewan on October 18 and lost at home 36-34 on September 7.
“We’ve got a lot of weapons,” head coach Brian Dobie said alluding to quarterback Jordan Yantz. “He has far exceeded our expectations. We knew he could throw the ball really well and I think a telling number with him has been his touchdown to interception ratio (25-6). We need for him to continue where he’s at right now.”
Dobie said a lot of what will determine how well his squad performs will be whether the “beat up” offensive line can protect Yantz with the number of injuries the Bisons are currently dealing with.
Tickets are $17 for adults and $10 for students/seniors through Ticketmaster. Children six and under are free. The game will also be shown on Shaw TV and live at CanadaWest.tv.
