A group of private sector employees representing a number of Manitoba companies are embarking on a two-day mission to explore business opportunities in the Bakken.
The region is known for its vast oil-producing resources and spans southwest Manitoba, Montana, North Dakota and Saskatchewan.
The rapid oil and gas sector development in the Bakken creates significant opportunities for Manitoba companies to support the ongoing infrastructure and resource needs of oil companies, workers, and local communities. The region is producing more than one million barrels per day, and production is predicted to double by 2017.
The mission is being organized by the World Trade Centre (WTC) Winnipeg in partnership with the Montana World Trade Centre.
“The objective now is to ensure that participating companies are truly prepared for market entry,” said Derek Earl, WTC Winnipeg director international trade. “This mission will equip participants with the contacts, information, and the understanding they will require to succeed in this market. There is a lot of opportunity, but this is also a uniquely complex, challenging and competitive marketplace.”
