VIDEO: Students Take Icy Dip for Charity

A team of business students from the University of Manitoba plunged themselves into icy water Thursday in the name of charity.

The annual Chillin’ 4 Charity polar bear swim saw 53 costumed students meet their chilly demise as part of “Team Toba.” Co-captains Emily Ashley and Andre Cadieux led the undergraduate student competition as part of the local leg of Jeux de Commerce (JDC) West. Each year, competing teams from business schools across Western Canada host their own Chillin’ 4 Charity event.

The goal this year was to raise $15,000 for the United Way of Winnipeg. RBC presented a $5,000 cheque towards the goal as part of being a premier charity partner.

Following the plunge, students warmed up in a heated tent on-site.
