Winnipeg police cut the ribbon on their shiny new West District Police Station on Friday.
The station at 2321 Grant Avenue will house uniform operations, a plainclothes investigation unit, a service centre and a community support unit.
The $18-million, 33,000-square-foot facility replaces two older model stations built in the 1950s. District 2 (210 Lyle Street) and District 6 (1350 Pembina Highway) closed on November 8.
“The combining of the District 2 and District 6 stations to form the West District Station allows us to consolidate our resources in order to maximize our efforts within the various communities and better serve our citizens,” said police Chief Devon Clunis.
The public can file reports at the station’s service centre daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
