The City of Winnipeg has declared a snow route parking ban beginning at midnight tonight.
To help aid in the clearing of main routes, bus routes and collector streets, plowing will start at 7 p.m. Front-end loaders will be used to clear intersections and bus stops.
The ban prohibits parking on any snow route between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m. while in effect. Vehicles parked in violation of the ban will receive a $100 ticket and may be towed.
The city says the ban will be in place until snow clearing is completed. The annual snow route parking ban comes into effect Sunday, December 1.
About 300 pieces of equipment will be utilized for the snow-clearing operation.
