Canadian Cancer SocietyThe Canadian Cancer Society is encouraging people to take a moment today to pause and give back to charitable causes most important to them.

“The holiday season can be a real rush for everyone,” said Mark McDonald, executive director of the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division. “Before we get too caught up in the craziness of the holiday season it is good to consider the impact each of us can have when we help others.”

The first annual GivingTuesday asks Canadians to volunteer their time or make a donation to a charitable organization.

“GivingTuesday is a day to focus on others. A gift to the Cancer Society can fund rides to and from treatment for cancer patients in over 50 Manitoba communities, and it can help us continue to fund more research into childhood cancer than any other charity in Canada.”

Approximately 33,500 Manitoba families will come together this holiday season as a loved one battles cancer.
