The Assiniboine Riverwalk will temporarily close on Monday, December 9 for riverbank repairs.

The city says flooding in 2011 damaged the foundation areas of the riverwalk armour, making it unstable.

The closure will stretch from the train bridge near The Forks to the Manitoba Legislative Building.

Pedestrian access will be cutoff from December 9-21, and again from January 2-31. However, pedestrian access to Assiniboine Avenue will be maintained during construction.

The Riverwalk will be open December 22 to January 1.
