With a fair amount of snow on the ground, Riding Mountain National Park is getting its winter activities ready for visitors.

Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, wildlife viewing, winter camping, picnicking and traction kiting are just some of the activities planned this winter.

“We are grateful for everyone’s spirit of cooperation in shaping Riding Mountain National Park’s winter offer,” said Richard Dupuis, acting superintendent. “In particular, we are pleased that the Riding Mountain Trail Stewards Association and the Friends of Riding Mountain Trail Stewards have partnered with Parks Canada for a second season to groom 18 Nordic ski trail areas throughout the park.”

The park is also working to clear snow from major roadways and trailheads to improve accessibility to some of the attractions.

Those visiting the park will soon have access to a web portal with a list of winter services, things to do, guided experiences, and self-guided opportunities. The new website will be available online before the Christmas holidays.
