Winnipeg Transit to Provide Free Rides on New Year’s

December 10, 2013 3:23 PM | News

New Year's EveWinnipeg Transit will provide a free ride home to party revellers on New Year’s Eve.

Beginning at 8 p.m. on December 31 and until the end of service, riders can hop on to get where they’re going to ring in 2014. The free service extends to Handi-Transit users as well.

“We encourage people to plan ahead and make the right decision,” said MaryAnn Kempe of Manitoba Public Insurance. “If you drink, don’t drive. There are options to get home safely — take advantage of the transit buses.”

The city and MPI partnered again for the initiative, which saw more than 12,000 people take free buses last New Year’s Eve.

The last buses leave downtown at approximately 1:38 a.m. For full route information, visit WinnipegTransit.com.
