Winnipeg police have arrested a man after they say he drove drunk and smashed into a truck on Main Street, then plowed into eight other cars.
Police said the man was speeding in a Ford F150 south on Main Street on Sept. 20 at about 11:30 p.m. when he struck at Chevy S10 that had just turned onto Main from Aberdeen Avenue. The man in the Ford then careened off through a chain-link fence and into a parking lot, damaging eight other vehicles and two additional vehicles parked on the street.
A man, 46, and a woman, 38, both in the S10, were taken to hospital in stable condition, along with a woman, 44, who was the passenger in the Ford. The driver of the Ford, 58, was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he was later upgraded to stable.
The 58-year-old man has been charged with three counts of drunk driving causing bodily harm, three counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and three counts of driving while ability impaired causing bodily harm.
He was released on a promise to appear.
