Camp Manitou has entered into a lease agreement with the Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation to see the organization take over operations of the camp as of January 2, 2014.
Under the agreement, the Foundation will carry on existing Camp Manitou programming and bring additional programming to the facility beginning next summer. A search for a camp director will begin in the coming weeks. In addition, the Headingley-based camp will also see a significant improvement to all camp facilities.
“We are thrilled with our new agreement that allows us to partner with Camp Manitou,” said Dwayne Green, Executive Director, Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation. “This opportunity allows us to extend our mandate and focus on youth in our province by developing a program that serves disadvantaged youth 12 months of the year.”
The camp, founded in 1930, provides an enriching camping experience for children and youth who would not otherwise have the opportunity or resources to do so.
