Man Crashes into Snowbank, Arrested for Drunk Driving

Winnipeg Police CrestA 47-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after driving his vehicle into a snowbank early Christmas Eve.

Winnipeg police spotted a Suzuki Aerio swerving in the area of Kilbride Avenue and McKenzie Street just before 1 a.m. Tuesday. The driver continued southbound at a high rate of speed as officers attempted to pull him over.

Police say the driver continued to disobey traffic lights with no regard for public safety. The vehicle eventually collided with a snowbank at Richardson Avenue and McCurdy Street.

The suspect was arrested and remains in custody at the Provincial Remand Centre.
