Winnipeg Police CrestFive youths have been arrested following a stolen vehicle chase in the city’s North End.

A Chevrolet Cavalier was stolen from the 700 block of Alfred Avenue on Christmas Eve. Winnipeg police spotted the vehicle just before 11 p.m. on Andrews Street near Flora Avenue and attempted to pull it over. The driver collided with the rear end of a police cruiser in the process near the intersection of McGregor Street and Royal Crescent. The impact caused a secondary collision to occur with another vehicle. There were no injuries.

The driver continued westbound on Royal Crescent, eventually losing control and striking a parked vehicle. Minor damage was caused and no one was injured.

Police eventually took five people into custody. Three girls — aged 14 to 17 — have been charged, along with a 14-year-old boy. The 17-year-old driver faces numerous charges, including flight from police, driving without a licence and insurance.
