If it’s time for the Christmas tree to come down already in your household, the city’s Let’s Chip In Depots open today.
Until January 20, 2014, you can bring your tree to one of the 11 depots city-wide.
All tinsel, decorations, plastic bags, and tree stands should be removed before recycling. Residents are welcome to help themselves to free wood chips, which will be available at all depots in early January while quantities last. The city asks that you bring your own container.
Any trees placed beside recycling or garbage carts will not be collected.
Winnipeg residents recycled 14,500 trees last season, according to the city.
