No one was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash involving an RCMP vehicle on Highway 7 Saturday afternoon.
Around 1 p.m., RCMP members and local EMS were tending to a single-vehicle crash involving a vehicle that had gone into the ditch near Stony Mountain. While responding, a Pontiac Montana minivan travelling southbound rear-ended a Ford F-150 pickup truck being operated by RCMP. Police had their emergency equipment activated at the time.
This collision caused other vehicles to take evasive action which resulted in a Chevrolet Malibu going into the ditch. Two other vehicles narrowly avoided the crash, while another crossed the median, but was able to avoid oncoming traffic.
The young male driver of the Pontiac Montana received minor injuries.
RCMP say blowing snow and poor visibility were contributing factors, and advise motorists to drive for the weather conditions.
