Three people walking near Winkler on New Year’s Eve were hit by a vehicle in Reinfeld, Manitoba.
The accident happened Tuesday night at around 11:30 p.m. on Reinfeld Street South just east of Winkler.
RCMP say a 1997 Toyota Tacoma driven by a 16-year-old Winkler boy was travelling southbound at the time of the crash.
A male and female were taken to the nearby Boundary Trails Health Centre for treatment, while an 18-year-old woman was severely injured and taken to Winnipeg, where she remains in critical condition.
Police are continuing to investigate and haven’t yet laid any charges.
UPDATE: January 2 — The 18-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday.
