Police Charge 55 People with Drunk Driving Over Holidays

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg Police have released the results of their Festive Season CheckStop program, which pulled over 4,106 vehicles during the month of December.

Of those, 246 drivers were administered breathalyzer tests, while 43 had their licences suspended for 24 hours.

Fifty-five people — 44 males and 11 females — were charged with impaired driving or refusing a breathalyzer.

Five people were arrested on other matters, and 141 traffic-related offence notices were issued.

The highest blood alcohol concentration reading was 240 MG%, with the lowest being 70 MG%. The average was 145 MG%.
