Calgary Duo’s Stolen-Vehicle Spree Ends in Brandon

January 3, 2014 7:10 AM | News

RCMP Crest LogoA man and woman from Calgary will appear in Brandon court today after leading police on a stolen vehicle chase in Western Manitoba.

The pursuit began Thursday morning when RCMP tried to stop a stolen vehicle from Elkhorn, just west of Virden. That was just one of many vehicles the suspects had allegedly stolen from Moose Jaw, Indian Head, Wapella and Moosomin, Saskatchewan, as well as Lethbridge, Alberta.

The vehicle stolen from Elkhorn clipped another on the highway east of the town, causing minor damage but luckily no injuries. RCMP called off their pursuit out of safety concerns.

That vehicle was eventually abandoned after the suspects — you guessed it — allegedly stole another from the Oak Lake area. Brandon police intercepted the vehicle as it made its way through the city and eventually hit a ditch east of town.

The Brandon Sun was on scene when the pair was arrested and have put together an interactive map detailing their crime spree, which spanned three provinces.

Anthony Blais, 42, and Laura Lee Dawn Palmer, 33, face numerous charges and remain in custody pending their court appearance.
