New Canadians Finding Their Spoken, Written Voice

Finding Your Voice 360New Canadians will be celebrated during a fundraising event on Wednesday held at the new Prairie 360 restaurant atop Fort Garry Place.

Finding Your Voice (FYV 360) aims to raise money to publish The Past is Another Country: Volume 3 — a collection of short stories by 12 new Canadians.

Finding Your Voice is a six-week program held Saturdays at the Millennium Library, in which newcomers are given writing assignments to improve their verbal and written English.

“The program fosters discussion of topics that matter to participants, and provides opportunities for intercultural dialogue and understanding in the hopes of building a better world,” said Janine LeGal, founder and facilitator of the Finding Your Voice program.

Cocktails and entertainment will run from 4-5 p.m., with dinner served at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $100 each or $300 for four. A table of eight is $600.
