Two Charged in Multiple Armed Robberies of Pharmacy

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police have arrested two people in connection with a series of robberies on a city pharmacy.

Between December 2, 2013 and January 4 of this year, a pharmacy in the 1400 block of Henderson Highway was robbed of prescription medication on three separate occasions.

Police say the male suspect produced a handgun while confronting staff and received an undisclosed amount of medication.

Police, with the help of the tactical support team and canine unit, found the man in the area of Beaumont Street and McGillivray Boulevard on January 4. A female suspect was located in a vehicle a short time later in the 2100 block of Pembina Highway.

A black, air-powered, BB gun and a quantity of prescription medication was recovered by officers.

Antonio Courchene, 29, has been charged with three counts of armed robbery using a firearm and three counts of disguise with intent. He remains in custody.

A 29-year-old woman, whoso name wasn’t released, has been charged with armed robbery using a firearm. She was released on a promise to appear.
