Winnipeg Police CrestFive teens have been arrested after Winnipeg police say they stole two vehicles on Wednesday and attempted to make off with a third.

A 2004 Toyota RAV4 was stolen in Selkirk by two of the teens in the early morning hours. Three other youths were then picked up in the vehicle and driven to the 1100 block of Leila Avenue.

Police say between 9 a.m. and 11:50 a.m., a 2002 Toyota Corolla was stolen and later abandoned at a gas bar when it wouldn’t restart.

The five accused then tried to steal a 2001 Toyota Corolla parked at a shopping centre in the 2300 block of McPhillips Street. A witness noticed the break-in and called police.

Three 15-year-old boys, a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy are facing multiple charges. The 14-year-old and one of the 15-year-olds were detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre, while the three others were released on promises to appear.
