A Winnipeg comedian and songwriter has challenged himself to write and record a new song every week in 2014.

J.Williamez, who you may already know from Shaw TV Winnipeg and this classic Banjo Bowl video, has begun J.Williamez: 52 Songs.

“I think it’ll be really cool that, in a way, these songs will kind of tell the story of a year in my life,” Williamez said. “I really want to get the word out about the project because I really believe it can be something special. Also, the more people who know about it, the less likely I’ll be able to weasel out of doing it.”

Songs will be uploaded weekly at jwilliamez52songs.blogspot.ca, and some will even include an accompanying music video.

The project will also see Williamez collaborate with other local artists through the year, including rapper Broms of the Filthy Animals.

The musical comedian, with nearly a decade in his genre, performs live every Monday night at Shannon’s Irish Pub.
