Cops for Cancer Half Marathon to Sell Out

WPS Half MarathonThis year’s annual Winnipeg Police Service Cops for Cancer Half Marathon will mark 10 years and attempt to break the $1 million donation mark.

Event organizers on Friday starting counting down to the half marathon, scheduled for May 4 beginning and ending at Assiniboine Park.

The race supports the Cops for Cancer program, with all funds donated to the Canadian Cancer Society and remaining in Manitoba.

Registration is already 65 percent full for the race with a cap of 2,600 runners allowed. The event will begin in two waves at 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., and remain open for four hours to allow runners, wheelchair athletes and walkers to participate.

Registration can be submitted in-person at any Running Room location, at the Canadian Cancer Society Office at 193 Sherbrook Street, or through the event website.

Early bird registration is $78.75 for the half marathon and $157.50 for the two-person relay teams until January 31, 2014.
