The Ironman Outdoor Curling’s 13th bonspiel is coming up and participants are hoping to register 56 teams this year.

The annual bonspiel, held February 7-9 on the Assiniboine River at The Forks, is raising funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.

This year, the bonspiel is making a special dedication to Guy Desmarais, whose life was changed after he suffered a stroke in October 2012.

“The Heart and Stroke Foundation came to introduce themselves to us while Guy was in the hospital,” said Jeannette Desmarais, Guy’s wife.

“They provided us with guidance and information to help us cope with our new normal. The resources they provided were especially helpful regarding the recovery process and what a family can expect during recovery as well as what is available to us during the process.”

Organizers are 21 teams away from reaching their goal. To sign up, visit IronmanCurling.com.
