The nominations for Manitoba’s Outstanding Young Farmers have been whittled down.

Four farm couples will be vying to represent the province this year at the Manitoba OYF Annual Banquet on February 8.

Yan Lafond (St. Jean Baptiste), Eric Gluck and Jodi Griffith (Lowe Farm), Myron and Jill Krahn (Carman), and Paul and Kyla Devloo (Swan Lake) are the finalists. Each couple will appear before a panel of judges at the Elkhorn Resort in Clear Lake before the final announcement is made.

The winner will then go on to compete at the national level in November 2014 in Quebec City.

Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers’ program is an annual competition to recognize farmers that exemplify excellence in their profession and promote the tremendous contribution of agriculture. The competition is open to anyone 18 to 39 years of age, who makes the majority of income from on-farm sources.
