Winnipeg police have made an arrest in a homicide investigation dating back to 2006.
Steven Pelletier, 29 at the time, was reported missing by family members in November 2006. Police say around October 4 of that year, Pelletier was seriously assaulted inside a home in the 500 block of Magnus Avenue after being lured by two men.
Pelletier died of his injuries and his body was taken to a secluded area outside of city limits.
Through a lengthly investigation, police identified a suspect and on January 17, 2014, charged Darrel Lavallee, 32, with second-degree murder. Lavallee was arrested while serving time at Stony Mountain Institution.
Police won’t say whether Pelletier’s body was found, but further arrests in the case are expected.
