Winnipeg HarvestWinnipeg Harvest has received a donation of $13,350 from the Fort Garry Rotary Club.

The funds raised came from the club’s second annual half marathon event, held last September at St. Vital Park. The race attracted 200 athletes from Western Canadian cities and doled out a prize of $5,000 for breaking the Canadian half marathon record.

The donation equals $267,000 worth of food that can be distributed from Winnipeg Harvest to the 60,229 people the food bank feeds monthly — of which 45 percent are children.

Winnipeg Harvest executive director David Northcott accepted the cheque on Monday during a presentation at Holiday Inn South made by Fort Garry Rotary Club president Martin Desilets.
