A series of break-ins at multiple camera shops across the city have thieves in possession of more than $56,000 in equipment.
Winnipeg police say the first robbery occurred August 6, 2013 in the 900 block of Portage Avenue, followed by the same business being hit again on September 24, 2013. In both cases, a large quantity of camera equipment was stolen.
On October 28, 2013, a camera shop in the 600 block of Empress Street was targeted. Suspects smashed the glass of the front door and fled in a vehicle after taking items from the store.
Police believe the same suspects are involved in all three robberies.
Serial numbers for the stolen equipment have been verified and police are warning the public to be aware of anyone in possession of a large quantity of high end camera equipment for sale at a reduced price.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (204) 986-6668 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
