Winnipeggers love to embrace winter, and what better way to do that than by building a one-of-a-kind snow maze in the city’s downtown.
Called SnowMAZEing, the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ is inviting citizens to celebrate winter and art by helping to build the maze at the Millennium Library and Park on Saturday, February 1.
“Winnipeggers have been finding off-beat ways of celebrating this unlikely confluence of deep freeze, social history and their own cheerful, can-do nature,” said Stefano Grande, executive director of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ. “With Winnipeg ranked as one of Canada’s premier winter destinations, this inaugural snow maze is another reason for people to embrace the season and to come together to celebrate downtown.”
The build will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 251 Donald Street. The public is asked to bring their own shovels to help build the maze out of snow bricks.
Inside the library, you can warm up with hot chocolate, or enjoy winter stories, word games and crafts with the kids.
