A female bobcat recovers after surgery at Assiniboine Park Zoo. (PRAIRIE WILDLIFE REHABILITATION CENTRE)
An injured female bobcat who was found with a fractured leg and pelvis earlier this month is recovering in Winnipeg after surgery.
Staff at Assiniboine Park Zoo performed the surgery on Friday to stabilize the leg fractures with a metal plate, pins and wire.
The bobcat was found January 17 in the Falcon Lake area.
After getting some rest, staff will transfer the animal to the Prairie Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre for the remainder of her rehabilitation. It will be a minimum of six to eight weeks before it’s known if the surgery was a success.
The PWRC is raising funds to cover the cost of surgery. Donations can be made online or mailed to P.O. Box 48059 RPO Lakewood, Winnipeg, MB, R2J 4A3.
