The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have re-signed defensive back Alex Suber for their 2014 season.
Suber, who was scheduled to become a free agent next month, was started at halfback for all 18 games in 2013, finishing the season with 54 tackles – including four games with six tackles apiece – two interceptions, and one fumble recovery. Suber also recorded six special teams tackles last season.
A four-year veteran with the Bombers, Suber has tallied 226 tackles, 28 special teams tackles, one sack, three interceptions and six fumble recoveries during his time with the team.
“Alex is a proven player in this league. He brings an attitude to the field and is a great athlete on both defence and special teams,” said Bombers general manager Kyle Walters. “He was a player on our free agent list we targeted very early on as a guy we wanted back and the organization is very excited to have him wearing the Bomber uniform for the foreseeable future.”
As per team policy, the Bombers did not release the details of their agreement with Suber.
