Woman Dies After Being Found in Portage la Prairie Snowbank

January 27, 2014 11:46 AM | News

RCMP Crest LogoRCMP are investigating the death of a 20-year-old woman after she was discovered in a snowbank in Portage la Prairie Sunday morning.

Shortly after 8 a.m. on January 26, emergency services responded to a call about a woman lying in the snow nearby the Portage la Prairie Recycling Depot. She was given CPR and transported to Portage General Hospital, but succumbed to her injuries.

The name of the woman will not be released, though police say she was a resident of Poplar Bay in Portage.

An autopsy is scheduled in Winnipeg to determine her cause of death. Police say they don’t suspect foul play, and that frigid weather conditions are being considered as a factor in the incident.
