Non-import defensive back Matt Bucknor is moving to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after being traded from Hamilton in exchange for the rights to non-import wide receiver Giovanni Aprile.
Bucknor comes to Winnipeg after two seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats after signing there as a free agent in 2012. Last season, he played nine games, tallying two tackles, five special teams kicks, and one forced fumble. He also took the field in last November’s Grey Cup, where the Hamilton lost to the Saskatchewan Roughriders 45-23.
In 2012 Bucknor started 14 games with the Ticats, played in all 18, and recorded four special teams tackles.
Bucknor played five seasons at Windsor from 2006 to 2010, winding down his career there with two forced fumbles, 12 interceptions – two of which were returned for touchdowns – and 121 defensive tackles.
