Bisons Volleyball, Hockey, and Track in Action This Weekend

University of Manitoba BisonsBoth Manitoba Bisons volleyball teams hit the court this weekend as they welcome the UBC Okanagan Heat Friday and Saturday at Investors Group Athletic Centre.

The crucial series will see the Bison women (11-7) tied for a fourth-place spot with UBC in Canada West, while the men are still in a playoff hunt at 7-11 for the season.

In Canada West stats, the Bisons are fourth in hitting percentage at .192, sixth in opponents hitting percentage at .173, second in assists at 12.12 per set, second in conference kills at 12.96, sixth in blocks at 2.34 per game, ninth in service aces at 1.39 and second in conference digs at 15.33. Individually, Jordana Milne is tenth in hitting percentage at .250 and tenth in blocks at 1.04 per set. Rachel Cockrell is fifth and Taylor Pischke is seventh in conference kills at 3.71 per set and 3.56. Brittany Habing is first in conference assists at 10.84 while Caleigh Dobie is second in Canada West digs at 3.91 per set. Cockrell is fifth (4.32 per set) and Pischke is eighth (3.95) in conference points.

The women play first on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8 p.m. Saturday matches run 5 p.m. for women and 7 p.m. for men.

Bison hockey: Men host Regina on Friday and Saturday. Games are 7 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, at Wayne Fleming Arena.

Track and Field: The Bisons host the Bison Classic on Friday and Saturday at the Max Bell Centre.
