An increase in complaints to police regarding a spambot targeting users on the messaging app Kik has prompted the Manitoba RCMP to issue a warning.
The spambot is reaching a younger audience and asking them for intimate photos. Police say to keep yourself safe from this type of message, you can go into the settings in Kik and turn on the “ignore new people” function as well as the block user feature.
If intimate images have been shared by your children, police ask that you contact them immediately.
