Members of Winnipeg’s media will pick up curling brooms on Friday for a fun media challenge leading up to Ironman Outdoor Curling Bonspiel.

The 13th annual bonspiel, held February 7-9 at The Forks, is raising funds and support for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.

“We are so honoured to be a part of this event, it’s for such a good cause,” said Matt Sutton of 99.1 Fresh FM. “I’ve never curled before, I’m not even sure how it works but I am looking forward to giving it a go.”

Winnipeg Blue Bomber players Chris Kowalczuk and Chris Greaves will also try their hand at the winter sport on the frozen river.

Media teams will hit the ice at 3 p.m., followed by regular teams at 4:45 p.m.
