An afternoon skate for families at The Forks this Sunday will help raise funds for the Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba (MDAM).
The second annual Skate & Stride on February 9 is a day to beat the dreaded winter blues by going for a skate down Winnipeg’s river trail.
After a skate or run, children can head over to the Manitoba Theatre for Young People for crafts, take in treats from Tall Grass Prairie and enjoy entertainment from Mikayla Zacharias and Marco Castillo.
“As we battle this cold winter, we need to remind ourselves that it is important to maintain exercise and create fun times with family and friends. These are important factors in improving depression,” said Tara Brousseau Snider, executive director of MDAM.
Funds from Skate & Stride will go towards community education and outreach programs for children, youth, and families.
The event runs from 1-3 p.m. To register, go to SkateAndStride.ca, visit any Running Room location or call MDAM at (204) 942-8715.
