It was a Valentine’s Day to remember on Friday at the University of Winnipeg’s Duckworth Centre.

Women’s basketball player Tia Ruddock popped the question to her boyfriend, Ramon Burke, in front of teammates and fans.

Ruddock, 22, grabbed the microphone at halftime and began reading a letter professing her love for Burke before pulling out an engagement ring. The crowd was exuberant at the sight of a live proposal on any otherwise normal night for university sports.

Video of the engagement has been posted to the University of Winnipeg Wesmen’s Facebook page.

The two plan to tie the knot in a couple years once they have both completed their studies.

Following the romantic moment, the Wesmen went back to work to defeat the Manitoba Bisons 87-72.
