Four people have been charged after an investigation involving stolen passports, driver’s licences, credit/debit cards and cheques.
Winnipeg police say the thefts occurred during vehicle and home break-ins over the past several months. Approximately 100 pieces of identification were stolen in the process.
Through the thefts, the suspects used the ID at businesses within the city.
On Sunday, police stopped a stolen Honda Civic in the 800 block of Ellice Avenue. While conducting the traffic stop, a 22-year-old man fled from officers as the occupants of the car were being taken into custody. He was later located in the 600 block of Burnell Street with the help of the canine unit.
Robert Sauer, 22, Christina Hudson, 34, Delfin Garcia, 45, and Jamie Neilson, 33, have been charged with multiple counts of possessing property obtained by crime, possession of identity documents, and possession of credit card data.
Police also located and seized a quantity of methamphetamine.
The suspects remain in custody.
