The Manitoba Bison men’s hockey team clinched fourth place over the long weekend to advance to hosting Mount Royal later this week.
The Bisons (12-12-4) finished the regular Canada West season after a 2-0 shutout win over the UBC Thunderbirds on Saturday.
Manitoba now hosts one of the two 2014 Canada quarterfinal best-of-three playoff series at Wayne Fleming Arena against the Mount Royal Cougars from February 21-23.
Last season in the conference playoffs, the Bisons swept Regina 2-0 at home in the quarterfinal best-of-three series and then lost 2-1 in semifinal best-of-three series at Saskatchewan.
Game 1 is Friday at 7 p.m., following by Saturday at 7 p.m. Should the teams split the series, a third game will be played Sunday at 3 p.m.
