An off-duty Winnipeg police officer was in the right place at the right time when he noticed two suspicious people leaving a grocery on Tuesday.
Just after 7:30 p.m., the officer was in the 500 block of McGregor Street when he saw two males concealing their identities as they ran from the store. He followed them to a home in the 400 block of Bannerman Avenue before returning to the store.
Employees confirmed they had just been robbed and no one was injured.
Police arrested a 20-year-old man and 12-year-old boy at the home a short time later.
Police say the suspects were armed at the time and received an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes, which was recovered at the time of their arrest.
Both suspects remain in custody.
