Manitoba Bars to Begin Serving at 5 a.m. on Sunday

BeerThe suds will be flowing nice and early on Sunday in Manitoba as Team Canada’s men play for hockey gold in Sochi against Sweden.

The province’s liquor authority has relaxed the rules to allow the serving of alcohol beginning at 5 a.m. Game time is 6 a.m. CT.

The changes apply to approved lounges, dining rooms, cabarets, private clubs and beverage room licensees.

It’s the first time service hours will have been changed to allow an early morning opening.

Operators of drinking establishments are asked to contact their licensing officer at the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission by 4 p.m. today to apply for the authorization of an early opening.
