February 24, 2014 7:05 AM | News

Manitoba LogoThe Manitoba government is sending $25,000 in immediate humanitarian assistance to Ukraine for first aid and medical supplies.

Premier Greg Selinger on Sunday attended a memorial service for victims of violence in Ukraine, organized by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Manitoba Provincial Council.

“Manitobans stand in solidarity with our friends in Ukraine against the violence of this past week,” Selinger said. “We want the institutions of democracy and human rights to be respected in Ukraine and around the world.”

The province will continue to work with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress to identify how funds can best be used effectively on the ground.
