RCMP Crest LogoPoor visibility is being blamed in a multi-vehicle crash that tied up traffic on Highway 1 west of Winnipeg for several hours on Wednesday.

RCMP responded to a crash involving a semi-trailer and two other vehicles about three kilometres west of Headingley just before 11:30 a.m.

Police say a Jeep Liberty travelling westbound braked suddenly and was rear-ended by a semi hauling hogs, which also collided with a westbound Dodge Caravan travelling next to it.

The woman driving the caravan was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The drivers of the Jeep and semi weren’t injured.

The animals aboard the semi were transferred to another truck and did not suffer any injuries.

Westbound lanes of Highway 1 reopened to traffic at around 3 p.m.
