Women in Custody After Joyride in Stolen Taxi

Winnipeg Police CrestTwo women remain in custody after allegedly stealing a taxicab and then driving it into a snowbank.

Winnipeg police say two women entered a cab Wednesday night in the 400 block of Kennedy Street and became involved in an argument with the driver while en route to the destination in the area of Logan Avenue and Keewatin Street.

The driver was allegedly threatened by one of the women, and eventually pulled the cab over and got out of the vehicle near Notre Dame Avenue and Balmoral Street. The women drove off with the cab, leaving the driver behind.

Police spotted the stolen vehicle near Alexander Avenue and Ellen Street, where it soon drove into a snowbank in the 200 block of Isabel Street.

Ansley Henderson, 22, has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, impaired driving, and failing to comply with a probation order.

Britney Beardy, 24, has been charged with robbery.
